Probing Individual Cuprous Oxide Microcrystals towards Carbon Dioxide Reduction by using In Situ Raman‐coupled Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy

چکیده

In this work, the simultaneous investigation of a single cuprous oxide microcrystal towards CO2 electroreduction (CRR, reduction reaction) by using Raman microscopy and scanning electrochemical (SECM) is shown. Cu2O microcrystals were electrochemically crystallized on an indium-doped tin oxide-substrate (ITO). Structural changes are observed in situ microcopy, which indicates their fast conversion into elemental Cu at low overpotentials. Simultaneously, detection products carried out sample-generation tip-collection mode (SG/TC) SECM formate ions main product CRR, as detected 10 μm Pt ultramicroelectrode (UME). Thus, with our approach, very beginning CRR (onset potential), potential-dependent formation well structural catalyst can be precisely investigated.

Detection of CO2•- in the Electrochemical Reduction of Carbon Dioxide in N,N-Dimethylformamide by Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy.

The electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 has been studied extensively and produces a number of products. The initial reaction in the CO2 reduction is often taken to be the 1e formation of the radical anion, CO2•-. However, the electrochemical detection and characterization of CO2•- is challenging because of the short lifetime of CO2•-, which can dimerize and react with proton donors and even mild ...

Studying Electrocatalytic Activity Using Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy

The use of single crystal electrodes in electrocatalysis have allowed researchers to understand some of the elementary steps in different reactions and to establish some relationships between the activity of an electrocatalyst and its surface structure. But the precise identification of the particular type of crystallographic site on a nanoparticle sized electrocatalyst where the reaction takes...

Understanding trends in electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction rates

Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction to fuels presents one of the great challenges in chemistry. Herein we present an understanding of trends in electrocatalytic activity for carbon dioxide reduction over different metal catalysts that rationalize a number of experimental observations including the selectivity with respect to the competing hydrogen evolution reaction. We also identify two d...

Screening of photocatalysts by scanning electrochemical microscopy.

A method for rapid screening of photocatalysts employing a form of scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) is described. A piezoelectric dispenser was used to deposit arrays composed of approximately 300-microm-size photocatalyst spots with different compositions onto conducting glass, fluorine-doped tin oxide substrate. The scanning tip of the SECM was replaced by a fiber optic connected to...
